I-35E
Stemmons Freeway, through the 35Express rebuild
The busiest road in the county and the one on the state list of most congested roadways. Between Business 121 and FM 407 the rebuild closes lanes overnight, so a breakdown at 11pm has far less shoulder than the same breakdown at noon. Rear-end collisions cluster at the merge points where traffic stacks.
While you wait: Get behind the barrier, not between the car and traffic. If the shoulder is gone to construction, stay belted inside with the hazards on.

SH-121
Sam Rayburn Tollway, through Vista Ridge
High speed, long gaps between exits and a wide median. Blowouts here happen at 70mph and the tire is usually destroyed, which turns a tire change into a tow. The tollway shoulder is generous, which helps.
While you wait: Pull all the way to the right shoulder past the rumble strip, then exit the passenger side away from live lanes.
Most called for here: a roadside tire change.
FM-1171
Main Street, Old Town to Round Grove
Signal after signal, heavy turning traffic and cars that die at a green and block a lane. Low-speed impacts are common and so are dead batteries in the Old Town parking bays.
While you wait: If the engine is dead at a light, stay in the car with hazards on until a truck arrives. Pushing into a turn lane on Main is worse than sitting still.
Most called for here: a battery jump start.
FM-407
Justin Road, west toward Flower Mound
Narrows fast once you leave the retail strip. Long stretches with a soft shoulder and a drainage ditch right behind it, which is exactly where a tired driver ends up at 2am.
While you wait: Do not try to drive out of a soft shoulder. Wheels dig in and the ditch is closer than it looks.
Most called for here: a winch out.
Lake Park Road
Lewisville Lake ramps and park roads
Boat ramps, gravel shoulders and wet clay. Trailers jackknife on the ramps and two-wheel drive trucks sink at the waterline. After rain the park approach roads stay greasy for days.
While you wait: Stop the moment the wheels start spinning. Every extra second of throttle buries the axle deeper and turns a winch job into a recovery job.

Outside these areas
Coverage does not stop hard at a line on a map. Carrollton, Coppell, Denton, Frisco, Plano, Corinth, Lake Dallas and Little Elm are all reachable, and calls from the wider Metroplex get handled too. If you are further out, say where you are and it will be clear quickly whether it is workable.
